From a student researcher to presenting on an international stage: a journey of firsts at IIPIEM 2025 in Singapore.
There are certain moments in life that stay with us forever. For me, November 2025 was one of those moments. It marked a series of unforgettable firsts that changed my perspective on research, travel, and personal growth.
I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Singapore and present my research paper at the 2025 International Conference on Intelligent & Innovative Practices in Engineering & Management (IIPIEM). What made this experience even more special was that it was my first international conference, first international flight, and first visit to another country.
Looking back, it feels like a dream that became reality.
The Beginning of an Exciting Journey
As someone passionate about Artificial Intelligence and research, publishing and presenting a paper at an international conference had always been one of my goals.
After months of research, discussions, experiments, and writing, our paper titled:
"Privacy Preserving Federated Learning Framework for Decentralised Drone Swarm Exploration"
was accepted for presentation at IIPIEM 2025 in Singapore.
The acceptance itself was a proud moment, but what followed was an even bigger adventure.
My First International Flight
The excitement truly began when I boarded my first international flight.
Like many first-time travelers, I had a mix of emotions:
- Excitement about visiting a new country
- Nervousness about airport procedures
- Curiosity about what international travel would be like
- Anticipation about representing my work on a global platform
Walking through immigration, waiting at the boarding gate, and finally taking off into the sky felt surreal. It was one of those moments where I realized how far dedication and hard work can take us.
As the aircraft crossed borders, I wasn't just traveling to another country—I was stepping into a new chapter of my life.
Arriving in Singapore
Singapore immediately impressed me with its cleanliness, efficiency, and modern infrastructure.
From the world-famous Changi Airport to the city's futuristic skyline, everything reflected innovation and excellence.
For someone visiting another country for the first time, every experience felt special:
- Exploring a new culture
- Meeting people from different backgrounds
- Experiencing international hospitality
- Seeing advanced technology integrated into everyday life
It was inspiring to witness how innovation and discipline can shape an entire nation.
Presenting My Research on an International Stage
The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly presenting our research at IIPIEM 2025.
Standing before an audience of researchers, academics, and professionals from different countries was both exciting and challenging.
I remember feeling nervous before my presentation. However, once I started explaining our work, my nervousness slowly transformed into confidence.
Our research focused on:
- Privacy-preserving federated learning
- Decentralized drone swarm exploration
- Secure AI collaboration
- Distributed intelligence systems
The discussions and questions from fellow researchers helped me gain valuable insights and broaden my understanding of the field.
This experience allowed me to connect with researchers from various countries and share ideas that could contribute to future innovations in AI and autonomous systems.
The Moment I Will Never Forget
Among all the memorable experiences, one moment stands above the rest.
Our paper was honored with the Best Paper Award.
Hearing our work being recognized among many excellent research contributions was an incredible feeling.
All the late nights, research challenges, revisions, and countless hours of effort suddenly felt worthwhile.
It was not just an award—it was recognition of our dedication, teamwork, and commitment to advancing research.

Gratitude to My Professor and Co-Authors
No achievement is ever accomplished alone.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my Professor and co-author, Dr. N. Seenu Saravanan, for her continuous guidance, encouragement, and support throughout this research journey.
Her mentorship played a crucial role in transforming an idea into a published and award-winning research contribution.
I am also grateful to everyone who supported me during this journey, including my family, friends, colleagues, and fellow researchers.
Looking Ahead
This journey to Singapore was much more than attending a conference.
It was a personal milestone that marked the beginning of my international research journey.
From taking my first international flight to presenting my work before a global audience and receiving the Best Paper Award, every moment reinforced my passion for Artificial Intelligence, innovation, and research.
Singapore 2025 will always hold a special place in my heart—not only because it was my first international experience, but because it showed me that dreams backed by dedication can become reality.
As I continue building AI solutions, contributing to open-source projects, and pursuing impactful research, I look forward to many more opportunities to learn, collaborate, and share knowledge with the global community.
This was my first international conference, but certainly not the last.
